History

The Tallangatta and District Football League was officially formed in 1945 comprising six teams-Bethanga, Fernvale, Granya, Mitta/Eskdale, Sandy Creek and Tallangatta and kicked off on the 21st April 1945. The 1945 season saw the Tallangatta Magpies defeat Fernvale in the Grand Final at Sandy Creek on the 21st July to become the Leagues first official Premiers.

Today the affiliated clubs are Barnawartha, Beechworth, Chiltern, Dederang/Mount Beauty, Kiewa/Sandy Creek, Mitta United, Rutherglen, Tallangatta, Thurgoona, Wodonga Saints, Wahgunyah and Yackandandah. For a chronology of events and a full league history see our "TDFL History" page.

The TDFL currently runs competitions in Senior & Reserve Grade open-age football, and Under 17 & Under 14 football age group competitions. In addition, our affiliation with Tallangatta & District Netball Association adds A & B Grade open age netball competitions, along with 18 & Under, 15 & Under and 13 & Under netball age competitions. This allows the whole family to participate in the League's activities.
